BAR RESCUE Launch S6
This project was about relaunching the successful show Bar Rescue on the newly rebranded Paramount Network. We delved into Jon Taffer’s past to find that moment where he went from struggling musician to the successful businessman known for resurrecting struggling bars and restaurants and packaged in a highly cinematic visual style commensurate with the new network.

What do you get when you take the wildly successful stars from Impractical Jokers and put them together with the brand new water park attraction at Universal Orlando called Volcano Bay?
A spoof feature film that goes off the rails as the Joker’s ditch work to play in the water park.
This piece is a melt of the two 60 second on-air vignettes that were created as unique content marketing for the water park and Impractical Jokers who also did an episode there.
Used exclusively on the Joker’s youtube channel it attracted over 500K views: JOKERS YOU TUBE
Process Case Studies
NASHVILLE on cmt case study
Working with the talented team at 2C Creative we envisioned an epic launch of NASHVILLE on CMT. I led the pitch to present ideas for possible concepts to welcome the show to the network. Working collaboratively with CMT we narrowed it down to the combination of 2 ideas; Putting the broken pieces of relationships, lives and careers back together with it all taking place inside a flashy surreal world that all of the characters were a part of. From there, we envisioned an intensive execution that married practical elements and in camera effects, with hints of upcoming plot lines preformed by talent and an expansive surreal CG environment that was figuratively meant to represent the new home of CMT. From concept spots, to graphics package and topically driven episodic promos we created an immersive campaign that saw unprecedented ratings for the network. My role was lead CD and concept writer, director of live-action and CD supervising the post on the concept spots. It was a total team effort and this case study video breaks down the herculean effort it took to bring it all to life.
Ink master on SPIKE case study
Spike came to 2C with an idea fragment of this immersive world of ink that was at once beautiful and confrontational. I led the process for the 2C team tasked with developing how we could bring something like this to life. It was a classic CG vs real conundrum and as a fan of in camera FX I fought to partner with Chris Webb the FX guru at FX WRX. While some CG would be inevitable, we felt strongly that visually the real ink simulations would be far more impactful than purely CG liquid simulations. We then set about capturing the talent moments so that we could let motion and performance of the tattoo artists inform what the ink would do. Once again it took a very talented team from production through post to marry the pieces together and this case study breaks down how we did it. For my part I was the lead CD in developing the idea, director of both the talent and ink effects shoots and CD lead overseeing the post efforts.
Every witch way on nickelodeon case study
Once again in close collaboration with a client idea, we were tasked with bringing the nugget of an idea alive. How can we create a seamless music driven anthem video that showcases the popular teenage witches powers and builds excitement for a new season of drama? The concept needed a smart story flow that helped the transitions feel fluid, almost in camera from scene to scene and there would be magic VFX throughout. Then, in addition to the anthem spot we also needed 3 unique story spots that showcased the character plot lines from the new season. I was tasked with leading the development for the production and preparing the post process flow to pull all of this off. This project again leveraged the very capable team at 2C and brought in the talents of Hector Espinosa from SPYDR, a familiar colleague from my time at IMPOSSIBLE. This project represented one of the more difficult shoots I directed because of all the moving parts, difficult locations (a beach resort with a turtle curfew), and working the younger talent.
Said more directly- kids, VFX precision and parts (without MoCo), restrictive locations and packed production days(with hard outs) made for a vigorous challenge. In retrospect, it was a helluva good time.
This case study video again showcases the mighty team effort it took to make all of the campaign spots. My role was development CD, live-action director and CD supervising the post.
Special shout out to the client on this one as NICK was intimately involved in every detail.
